The Role of a Direct Support Professional

As a Direct Support Professional at Kimwell Nursing Home, you will play a vital role in assisting our residents with their daily activities and providing emotional support. Your duties will include:

  • Assisting with personal care, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Administering medications accurately according to individual care plans
  • Providing mobility support and assisting with transferring and positioning
  • Planning and engaging residents in recreational activities
  • Offering companionship and emotional support
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care

Qualifications and Requirements

To excel in this role, we require the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in direct care or a related field
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Empathy and compassion towards elderly individuals
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Flexibility to work day, evening, or overnight shifts as needed
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid (preferred)
