Responsibilities of a Direct Support Professional

As a Direct Support Professional at Kimwell Nursing Home, you will play a vital role in meeting the physical, emotional, and social needs of our residents. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Providing companionship and emotional support
  • Administering medication and monitoring health conditions
  • Assisting with meal planning and preparation
  • Ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for residents
  • Collaborating with a team of healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans
  • Documenting residents' progress and reporting any changes or concerns

Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience in a similar caregiving role is preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Empathy and compassion for the elderly
  • Knowledge of geriatric care practices and techniques
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR (preferred, but not required)
