The Role of a Direct Support Professional

As a Direct Support Professional at Kimwell Nursing Home, you will play a crucial role in providing personalized care and support to our residents. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting residents with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Monitoring residents' health and reporting any changes to the nursing staff
  • Helping residents with mobility, transfers, and ambulation
  • Supporting residents in maintaining their independence and promoting their overall well-being
  • Assisting with meal planning, preparation, and feeding
  • Engaging residents in social activities and providing companionship
  • Ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for residents

Requirements

To be considered for the Direct Support Professional position, candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a healthcare or related field is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Compassionate and patient nature
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Familiarity with elderly care practices and understanding of aging-related needs
  • Valid certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
