The Role of a Direct Support Professional (DSP)

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Kimwell Nursing Home, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to elderly individuals. Your responsibilities may include assisting residents with their daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication management. You will also be responsible for monitoring their overall well-being, ensuring their safety, and providing companionship.

Our ideal candidate is passionate about working with the elderly and has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should have a strong understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by older adults and be able to provide compassionate care in a professional manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with their daily activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Administer medications and ensure residents are taking them as prescribed
  • Monitor residents' health and report any changes to the nursing staff
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of residents' progress and care
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of residents at all times

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or caregiving role is preferred
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Compassionate and patient nature
