The Role of a Direct Support Life Skills Trainer

As a Direct Support Life Skills Trainer at Kimwell Nursing Home, you will play a crucial role in assisting individuals with daily activities and promoting their personal growth. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one support to individuals with daily living tasks such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility assistance.
  • Developing and implementing individualized care plans based on the unique needs and goals of each resident.
  • Assisting with community integration and fostering social interactions to enhance overall well-being.
  • Monitoring and documenting individual progress, health status, and any changes in behavior or condition.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and support.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training in caregiving or related fields is preferred.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with varying abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate nature and the ability to provide empathetic care.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle challenging behaviors.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Passionate about promoting independence and empowerment to individuals with varying abilities.
