Responsibilities of a Direct Support Professional

As a Direct Support Professional at Kimwell Nursing Home, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting residents with personal care activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Aiding in mobility and transferring, ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Administering medication as prescribed, maintaining accurate records.
  • Providing companionship and emotional support to promote a positive atmosphere.
  • Engaging residents in recreational activities and encouraging social interactions.
  • Assisting with meal planning, preparation, and feeding.

Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous experience in caregiving or related fields preferred.
  • Compassionate nature and genuine interest in providing care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and weekends.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
