Job Description
As a Direct Support Professional at Kimwell Nursing Home, your primary responsibility will be to provide direct care and support to our elderly residents. You will assist them with activities of daily living, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with personal hygiene tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Administer medications under the supervision of a nurse
- Monitor residents' vital signs and record any changes
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning
- Plan and engage residents in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities
- Document and maintain accurate records of residents' care and progress
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and therapists
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents
- Ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in a caregiving role, preferably with seniors
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Empathy and compassion towards the elderly
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays
- Certification in First Aid and CPR (preferred)
